Dos Santos

Dos Santos is a Chicago-based quintet blending Latin American ancestral rhythms like son jarocho and cumbia with psychedelic rock, jazz, and punk. Formed in 2013, the band comprises Alex Chavez, Jaime Garza, Nathan Karagianis, Daniel Villarreal-Carrillo, and Peter Vale. They are celebrated for their genre-bending sound and socially conscious lyricism.

The band was founded in 2013 within Chicago's vibrant Latinx hub of Pilsen, emerging as one of the city's most elastic and compelling live acts. Known originally as Dos Santos: Anti-Beat Orquesta, the members brought diverse musical backgrounds spanning traditional Mexican folk, salsa, R&B, and experimental jazz. This varied experience allows the group to seamlessly traverse traditional acoustic sounds and heavily electric, dissonant compositions.

Their progressive approach to Latinx alternative music garnered critical acclaim, leading to an official signing with the progressive label International Anthem. Through this label, they released their debut Logos and their full-length album City of Mirrors. City of Mirrors, which was praised by publications like Rolling Stone and Paste, tackled themes of borderland migration, social justice, and resilience following the 2020 racial reckonings.

Dos Santos is defined by both their virtuosic musicianship and their advocacy, regularly supporting arts education and social justice organizing alongside their live performances.

Money Chicha

Money Chicha is an Austin, Texas based group featuring members of the Grammy-award winning Latin orchestra Grupo Fantasma and its offshoot funk outfit Brownout which performs a fuzzed-out, reverb-drenched and percussion-heavy style of music inspired by the sounds of Peru and Colombia in the 60’s and 70’s. This style of music, sometimes called “Chicha” music, is known for its infectious Latin beat, its psychedelic, surf guitar pyrotechnics and its melodies influenced by the indigenous culture of the Andes mountains.

The group’s sound is derived from the exhilarating syncopations of congas, cowbell and timbales, the gritty tones of combo organs and vintage synthesizers, effects-laden guitar melodies, insistent bass lines and a healthy dose of trippy, psychedelic effects. Money Chicha is a modern translation of this South American musical style interpreted by highly skilled veterans of America’s most vibrant music town. In their capable hands the “Chicha” genre takes on a new and unique character, guaranteed to move one to both dance and listen, entranced by the undeniable rhythms and virtuosic displays of musicality.

The group has performed at Tropico Festival in Acapulco, MX, Mapquest music festival, SXSW, Pachanga Festival and is scheduled to perform at Mole de Mayo festival in Chicago, IL. Money Chicha’s newest album “Onda Esoterica” was released in December 2025 on Spanish label Vampisoul.
